"Quelle planète": A hybrid publication-exhibition
Along the years, Leonardo/OLATS has been developping what it calls "experimental publication-exhibition", experimenting different formats to reach audiences in different ways.
For More-than-Planet it created the hybrid publication "Quelle planète".
"Quelle planète" is based on the actions and events that Leonardo/Olats conducted throughout the project. It includes an online version on the one hand composed of three texts and illustrations and, on the other hand, a series of three printed and folded posters that act as both a publication and a documentary exhibition. The content is the same on both online and printed versions.
The first poster is titled "Portrait planétaire" and focuses on the different ways that scientists and artists have to represent a planet, in this case Venus, based on the same data from the same probe, in this case Magellan.
The second poster is titled "Une autre planète". Its focus is on terraformation, mining, extractivism and exploitation of both the Earth and other celestial bodies.
The third one is titled " A la périphérie du monde". Its focus is about imaginaries and cultures beyond the mainstream one dominated by the so called "New Space" and Hollywood movies. It is based on the performance Imaginary Futures @ Global Periphery and it provides a reflexion and an analyse of what happened during the event.
Folded, the posters can be read, in no specific order, as a text, somehow as an article in a journal or a book. Unfolded and put on a wall, they act as a documentary exhibition.
"Quelle planète" is in French.
